Sifiso Nene, widely known by his stage name Damase Ivulandlela, is a talented South African musician blending various genres to create his distinctive sound. Born in 1989 in the remote Kwa-Ngema districts of Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, Damase’s name reflects his purpose: “Ivulandlela” means “path opener,” symbolizing his mission to inspire others to pursue transformative paths in their lives.

Raised by his grandparents as the second of four siblings, Damase always had a strong passion for music. He completed his high school education in 2007 and holds a diploma in Journalism and Media Studies. His musical journey began at the age of 11 when he wrote his first song, Sengiyahamba. He recorded his debut album SceneOne in 2010 and released Street Value Mixtape in 2016. Throughout his career, he has explored different musical genres, from isicathamiya to soulful house, with a goal to connect and resonate deeply with people through his music.

Damase has shared the stage with notable South African artists such as KO, Big Zulu, MoonChild, Bassie, and Synymaan. His music has been featured on national radio stations like Ukhozi FM and Ligwalagwala FM. In addition to music, Damase is also passionate about fashion and co-founded the Gcwala Mina Brand.

As a rising figure in the music industry, Damase is determined to continue creating impactful music while collaborating with fellow musicians. His motto, “If it doesn’t shake your soul, Damase is not on it,” reflects his deep commitment to music that moves people.
